The Superstition Fire & Medical District (located east of Phoenix Metro area in the state of Arizona) is recruiting nationally for its next Fire Chief. The newly selected Fire Chief will bring a collaborative and inclusive leadership style that is well matched with this high-performance and pro-active organization. Appointed by the District’s Governing Board, the Fire Chief is an at-will appointment and serves at the pleasure of the Board. Under the direction of the Governing Board, the Fire Chief oversees a budget of $23.7 million dollars through four divisions, each led by an Assistant Chief or a Director: Emergency Services Operations (includes transport), Planning & Logistics, Administrative Services, and Financial Services. Total staff count is 132 full-time employees and is comprised of 86 suppression personnel, 24 full-time transportation personnel, 14 administrative positions, Training Captain (1), Battalion Chiefs (3), Acting Assistant Chief (1-Operations), Assistant Chiefs (2-Administrative) and the Fire Chief.
This is a contract position and will be supported by a negotiated employment agreement. The annual salary range for this position is $147,403 to $184,134 (DOQ). SFMD also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
