Roanoke Fire-EMS, an Internationally Accredited ISO Class 1 Fire-EMS Department, is seeking its next Battalion Chief of Fire Prevention and Fire Marshal. This position is a primary member of the City’s community risk reduction team, responsible for managing fire inspections, fire investigations, and fire protection systems acceptance testing for the City of Roanoke.
The ideal candidate is highly energetic and strongly motivated with excellent leadership, management, and administrative skills. Our new fire marshal will have extensive experience with both fire inspections and fire investigations, with five to seven years of experience in each. The selected candidate will hold Virginia fire inspector (NFPA 1031) and fire investigator (NFPA 1033) certifications or be eligible for reciprocity. Certification as a law enforcement officer through the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy or the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is preferred – the selected candidate will otherwise be required to obtain this certification within twelve months of hire.
