Kirkland Fire Department (KFD) is hiring entry level Firefighters!

Thanks to the passage of Fire Proposition 1 in 2020, we are making major investments in firefighter staffing levels with the goal of hiring 20-25 new firefighters over the next three years, as well as building new fire stations and renovating a number of existing stations.

Kirkland is continuously accepting applications for the hiring process for Firefighter positions.

The PST written score is required to be dated between February 14, 2022 and February 13, 2023.  All test scores are valid for one calendar year.

Salary Information: $6,353 – $8,586/month

Department Information: Kirkland Fire Department (KFD) has a staff of 109 serving residents over 18 square miles from six fire stations, including our brand new Fire Station 24. New construction of Fire Station 27, as well as renovations at existing stations around the city, are underway to help KFD improve firefighter workplace health and safety, become more energy efficient and stay up-to-date on the latest equipment.

KFD is not just about fighting fires. KFD is an “all hazards” response team that includes handling Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescues, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management and Water Rescues. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) now make up about 75% of KFD’s calls for service.
