City Of Murrieta

The City of Murrieta is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter Paramedic to fill seven (7) current vacancies for our Fire Department. The City was awarded a FEMA SAFER grant, which will fund six of seven vacancies for the next three (3) years; following conclusion of the grant, measure T funds are expected to be allocated for future funding. The eligibility list established may be used to fill upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to one (1) year.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Must successfully pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Entry Level Firefighter Written Exam and be placed on the FCTC Statewide Eligibility List as of November 1, 2020. If FCTC testing is needed please register at

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • EMT-Paramedic license in the State of California
  • Certificate of Completion from a California Fire Academy (OSFM Firefighter I  also accepted)
  • California Class C Driver License

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Coursework in Fire Science or a related field is desirable

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • EMT-Paramedic license in the State of California
  • Certificate of Completion from a California Fire Academy (OSFM Firefighter I  also accepted)
  • Possess a current, valid Cal-Jac CPAT Card with an issue date between November 1, 2019  and November 1, 2020
  • California Class C Driver License

 

If selected for hire, candidates will be required to submit copies of the following certificates later in the selection process.

  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • American Heart Association, American Red Cross or state approved BCLS/CPR certification Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Class B or Class C/Firefighter-Restricted California Driver License by the end of the probationary period
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) acquired within six months of hire
  • Obtain local EMS accreditation within two months of hire
