The City of Chickasha, Oklahoma (population 16,800) seeks a Fire Chief to lead the department comprised of 36 staff responsible for EMS, fire suppression, search and rescue, and hazmat response. Most department personnel serve in all areas, and Fire Department staff are unionized. Qualified candidates must be less than 45 years of age unless the candidate is already vested in the Oklahoma Pension and Retirement System.
If the candidate is not part of the Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and Retirement System, they must pass the physical agility test, the medical physical, and be accepted by the pension board.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Business or Public Administration is required. Applicants nearing completion of a bachelor’s degree will be considered. At least three years of experience in firefighting, fire prevention, and EMS with at least two years of experience at the command level is required. Union or civil service experience is preferred.
The starting salary is up to $90,000 DOQ/E. Benefits provided include medical, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, holidays, car allowance or a City vehicle, technology allowance, and paramedic incentive pay.
