Dr. Jahnke is the Director of the Center for Fire, Rescue, and EMS Health Research at the National Development and Research Institutes, a not-for-profit research firm. She completed her doctorate in Psychology with a Health Emphasis at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and the American Heart Associations’ Fellowship on the Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease. She has served as the Principal Investigator of several large-scale studies of the health and readiness of the U.S. Fire Service funded by the Department of Homeland Security, the American Heart Association, and National Institutes of Health. She works closely with several fire service organizations as a scientific consultant and subject matter expert. In 2016, she received the Dr. John Granito Award for Excellence in Fire Leadership and Management Research. She is regularly invited to present at both fire service and academic conferences.
