Assistant Chief Juratovac is in her 21st year serving the citizens of the City of San Francisco. Beginning at the rank of Firefighter/EMT in 1997, Chief Juratovac has been assigned to some of the busiest Engine and Truck Companies of the SFFD, including Engine 7 and Truck 7, in the City’s Mission District, where she served as a Lieutenant; and Truck 1, one of the busiest truck companies in the country, where she served as a Captain. She has been assigned to Battalions 1 (Downtown, Financial, Chinatown, and North Beach Districts), 6 (Mission, Noe Valley, and Castro Districts), 9 (Ingleside and Lakeview Districts), 10 (Bayview and Hunters Point Districts), and 65 (San Francisco International Airport). Chief Juratovac is currently assigned to Division 3 overseeing Battalions 2, 3, 6, 9, and 10. Division 3 also responds to the San Francisco International Airport. This is a total of 27 Fire Stations, ensuring the safety of over 175 Firefighter/EMTs, Firefighter/Paramedics, and Officers.
Chief Juratovac has enjoyed a myriad of other assignments, including Surf/Cliff Rescue Stations, as well as an administrative assignment reporting directly to the Chief of Department and two Deputy Chiefs. She also served as a Training Officer at the SFFD Recruit Academy, as well as a Field Training Officer to Recruit Probationary Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics. Chief Juratovac received her Bachelor’s degree in English and Minor in Asian American Studies from U.C. Berkeley. She also earned her Juris Doctorate from San Francisco Law School. She is a graduate of City College of San Francisco’s Fire Science Technology Program, having received her A.S. in Fire Science Technology and Certificate in Fire Protection.
Chief Juratovac graduated from the United States Fire Administration’s National Fire Academy (NFA) four-year Executive Fire Officer Program and obtained California State Fire Training’s
Fire Officer and Chief Officer certificates. Chief Juratovac also earned her Master Instructor certificate through State Fire Training. She is also a certified Hazardous Materials Specialist, and possesses certifications in Rescue Systems I and II, Trench Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Auto Extrication, Wildland, SCUBA, and numerous other certifications. She is a state Subject Matter Expert on High Rise Firefighting and a member of its curriculum cadre. She is qualified to work on the SFFD Heavy Rescue Squad and Surf Rescue companies. Chief Juratovac has taught at conferences, workshops, and as an adjunct faculty member at the NFA. She has been an instructor at CCSF’s Fire Science Technology Program since 2003 and at its Fire Academy since its inception.
