Chief Michael W. Robinson Sr., has 43 years in the fire service as both a volunteer and career chief officer. He retired from the Baltimore County Fire Department in 2015 after a nearly 33 year career in many areas including Chief- Special Operations, Chief of Training, Shift commander and PIO. He began his fire service involvement while in high school and was active as a volunteer in the Anne Arundel County Fire Department (MD) where he served in many roles including a volunteer fire chief for 10 yrs. and as the Chair of the County Fire Advisory Board. He is a FEMA recognized subject matter expert in NIMS/ICS and is a contract instructor in the Command & Control, Safety, and EMS and Leadership programs at the National Fire Academy. He is also an instructor with the Purdue University-Fire Science Program and the University Of Maryland, Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI) He holds bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and is a credentialed Chief Fire Officer Designee (CFO) as well as Pro-Board certified in over 20 levels. Chief Robinson is serving his 30th year as the chairman of the Maryland Fire Service Personnel Qualifications Board (MFSPQB) and a former member of the NFPA Professional Qualifications Committee. Since retirement he has moved to south central Pennsylvania and remains a practicing paramedic and life-long learner.
